tbh idgaf about whether alucard called integra count or countess bc how is integra holding "sir" title as legit as a male knight yet the same validity cant be apply to this situation if she was called a "count" ?? "hes regarding her as his equal" doesnt add up to me like im genuinely curious if u dont read it as somewhat romantic aligned how do u read it? one thing i noticed is that when it comes to reading between the lines sometimes we take a thing out of context and nitpick it and it doesnt seems fair, we have to put it in within the plot and among other details to read it too, and alucard already stated beforehanded that he regarded integra higher than himself or anyone else "i am a monster, regarding you, integra" he already stated how her will controls him, even major (yes i know hes an unreliable narrator but a broken clock is right at lease one time or something) said shes the authority alucard recognize. So the point that "he regards her as equal" contradicts what alucard said previously, and integra is his master, not his apprentice or servant to be recognized, unlike seras. Supposedly it was truth that he's claiming he recognize her as equal, wouldnt there be a better way to state it? "count and countess/count" cause confusion, and disrupt the intention if they were meant to be non romantic, Hirano wouldnt do things half way like that. And he had recognized her authority through BOTH actions and words before, wouldnt it break the smooth flow and insinuating atmosphere of the story by stating something that had been very efficiently shown between the line before by addressing it so crudely by spoken words. If "count and countess" solely means "platonic equal" i am sure there are LOTS more ways for it to be expressed without using such a complicated interaction, Hirano Kohtah is no amateur if he wanted to get a point across he would have done it.
